Ferry: ADEME πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

Calculate ferry emissions with the methodology of ADEME, the French Agency for Ecological Transition, which accounts for fuel type, operational patterns and vessel capacity.

type ferrymethodology ADEMEGHG information for transport services, Jun 2019Supports audit mode

ADEME is known for its methodologies on environmental issues, including the carbon impact of many sectors. Its ferry methodology reflects the role of maritime transport in global travel and lets you measure, and eventually reduce, greenhouse gas emissions specific to ferries. It takes into account the dynamics of maritime travel, such as fuel type, operational patterns and varying capacities. Ferry operators and policymakers use it to make informed decisions and to work toward international emission reduction targets in the maritime sector.

Sample requests

Send a quote while the traveller is still choosing a crossing, then repeat the call with audit set to true once the booking is final. The body is otherwise identical.

audit_for is optional

Pass the ID of an auditable entity when you calculate on behalf of that entity. Otherwise, leave it out.

Request fields

typestringrequired

ferry

methodologystringrequired

ADEME

originstring

SQUAKE tries to resolve origin and destination in any format. Ideally, use the postal standard for addresses, IATA/ICAO codes for airports (MUC), UN/LOCODE for trade and transport locations (DEHAM), or latitude and longitude (+40.712,-74.006).

destinationstring

Same formats as origin.

distance_in_kmnumber

Takes priority over origin and destination. Without it, SQUAKE resolves the distance from them. If you send both, SQUAKE uses distance_in_km.

vessel_typeenum

One of night_ferry, day_ferry, ro_pax, river_vessel. Defaults to day_ferry.

number_of_travelersinteger

Minimum 1. Defaults to 1.

external_referencestring

Your identifier for the item, up to 128 characters, so you can match results to requests. SQUAKE doesn't guarantee the order of items.
